It's easy to defend a colleague when you know the person you're criticising won't punish you for it.

US media is feckless. Always has been, they were just used to being coddled by the powerfull.

They get turned into yellow journalists. But the Biden old thing made them feel like themselves again. That's they jumped on it and are still going on about it. They felt important and knew democrats would not persecute them.

Yes but its not a normal president that respects them. There will be no scoop to a scandal that will win them a Pulitzer, just a bunch of MAGA threats and/or violence.

That sells papers but its not what "real" White House reporters do during a normal presidency.

With Biden the media felt it had an impact. Every source they talked to mattered.

With Trump all their work gets submerged in a sea of lies, whataboutisms and bad faith excuses. And then everone pretends the thing Trump did was normal.

I think its the press last gasp at covering a normal president.

They liked feeling normal again when they were covering Biden's scandal. They were listened to and respected again.

When they cover Trump, they get threatened or ignored or both. Then, in the end everybody just moves on.

Interesting to see what happens to overseas orders of US weapons from now on. As we have seen in Ukraine, US weapons come with some big political strings attached. No point in spending big bucks on fancy hi-tech gear that allows Trump to manipulate you in a crisis. It starts becoming a liabaility.

Dictators do that. 20% of russians don't have indoor plumbing.

Trump will sell out the US to China and SCOTUS doesn't care. It will be a 6-3 vote along party lines.

"Hmm, let's see, last time around we resisted his authoritarian moves and voters rewarded us with a 'blue wave' midterm election in which we retook the House."

"Well, gosh, we better not do *that* again."

Trump wants TikTok to remain in CCP hands, so the supreme court will accommodate him.
