I'm supposed to go to California next week and just got this email from United. 😬😬😬 I guess we'll see what happens over the next few days...

My next pay-what-you-can workshop is open for registration! It's on 11/17 and (fittingly for the week before Thanksgiving) we'll be talking about transitions in school: class to class, school to break and back to school, and more!

finally, another hour later....SHE DID IT! Kitty girl was MAD but little does she know, she's about to head to the best of the best foster house and get luxury care.

An hour or so later, we caught sight of Miss Ruby! Poor baby with her matted fur. We knew the trap was in the right spot, just needed her to go in...
November 2, 2025 at 6:56 PM
Ruby came by in the middle of the night (when the trap isn't set) which was a great sign. This morning, I woke up early and heated up some wet food to entice her, and set the trap...

...only to have Anchovy immediately get himself locked up 🙄

On Day 3, we had a sighting of Ruby across the street on the porch of her old house, so Sue set up a second camera there. We had another sighting of her that day so I moved the trap in the evening.

Day 2 (Halloween) was also super rainy, a few curious neighborhood cats but no Ruby. I was feeling a little discouraged. When I went out to tie up the trap door for the night, saw this dude trick-or-treating

Day 1 was super rainy, no sign of Ruby. I did have to chase off our neighborhood orange cat Anchovy, who was very interested in the free meal. He returned at night and we got this very flattering pic of him on the trail cam 😆

I work from home w/a mostly flexible schedule so Sue came over the next day and taught me how to set and reset the trap, what to do if we caught Ruby, etc, and left me with all the supplies I needed. She also set up a trail cam. We immediately got a customer, but it was not the right gray cat

Someone in the group said, "hey, could this possibly be the cat from this post?" Some tagging and texting later, it was confirmed: the kitty I saw was Ruby.

OK let's do a thread about my cat rescue journey this week! It was an amazing experience. I learned a ton and have a whole new appreciation for cat rescues and volunteer trappers.

It started when I was coming back from a walk on Wednesday and saw this cutie underneath my front porch

This is my favorite neighbor. His name is Anchovy and he likes to headbutt your legs and then do a dramatic flop n' roll when he sees you. His hobbies include terrorizing the other neighborhood cats and climbing onto my roof to terrorize my indoor cat. And chasing butterflies 🥹

Peak foliage may have passed in other parts of VT but it's popping in my neighborhood.

This was sooooo fun!!! It's truly amazing to think about the sole dude who created Stardew Valley making the entire game by himself AND the original composition of all the music. Sounded great in orchestral arrangements!

Timeline cleanse & a little bit of happiness during a shitty week:

This weekend I officiated my brother's wedding on a whale-watching boat in MA. Five whales and a school of dolphins showed up right as we did the ceremony and hung out until the sun was setting. Magic.

Over on IG, I've been doing a series with reflection questions and reminders about the four priorities. Head over there if a refresher might help as you start the year (or if you want to learn about the framework for the first time!) @/UnconditionalLearning on IG.

I join you in your quest for vengeance. once they gave me this abomination of a to-go cup at their downtown location and I've never gotten over it
