tiny Jupiters in UV, visible, and infrared light

This new JWST image looks like one big spiral galaxy; but it's not! The central spherical blob is a massive galaxy closer to us, and the reddish blue wrapped around it is another spiral galaxy behind it very far away. The central blob should block the light of the spiral; we shouldn't see it at all!

Oh. My. Wow. This image here, THIS STUNNING PHOTO, was taken by Blue Ghost on the Moon. Because while we saw a lunar eclipse on Earth, the Moon saw a solar eclipse at the same time. That's us, Earth, eclipsing the Sun. And it just gives me goosebumps to see like this!!

My first try of the total lunar eclipse with a Canon EOS RP camera. I'll definitely need to get a telephoto lens!

Lunar eclipse happening right now friends. Can already see a bite taken out of the moon! (This is just taken with my Samsung S24 Ultra for now)

Wow. Blue Ghost has taken is first images, and one of them was this: sunrise on the Moon. That's our Sun, as a star. From the Moon. Beautiful.

Blue Ghost, the moon lander from Firefly Aerospace, landed on the moon last night. It took a selfie from the lander. And that's us, up in the sky ❤️

Think space exploration is a "waste of money?" If you use/depend on:
- phone camara&smartphone
- scratch resistant lenses
- wireless earbuds
- prosthetics
- CAT scans
- purified water
- memory foam
- solar panels
- LED lights
- fireproof fabrics
Then you benefit from its advancements. FUND IT!

If there's one take away from the TV show "For All Mankind," it's that society held back technological progress by MILLENIA by keeping women out of STEM. Wish we had better tech that could boldly go "where no HUman has gone before?" We likely would have had half the brilliance not been locked away.

Look you know you needed some feel-good news today.
In 2014 Dutch scientists left a hamster wheel outside, to see if wild animals would use it like their domesticated counterparts.

The answer: hell yes! 734 visits from wild mice - plus rats, shrews, slugs ("running" being subjective here) & even frogs and snails.

The apparent reason: fun. Just fun.

While it's nice to look up into space to see the enormity of it all, it's also a good reminder to look down, at this beautiful rock we live on, from above. Everything you know, your friends, enemies, what you've learned, loved, hated, experienced, all originated from this beautiful ball we live on.

winds from the bright and hot stars, mentioned before, carve out cavities in surrounding gas and dust.

This is the MIRI (Mid-Infrared Instrument) view of NGC 604. Here you can see how large clouds of cooler gas and dust glow in mid-infrared wavelengths.

Saw these two cosmic beauties in the sky yesterday evening. Perfect timing, I caught a plane as it flew by them!

That's Venus and the Moon, by the way. Be sure to catch a glimpse tonight! The moon will be above Venus instead of below, as you see here. You'll see Saturn farther above.

Could we tell whether anyone in our galaxy uses a warp drive?

This sounds like a crazy question, but it can be answered using numerical GR

(one of the fun highlights of the annual theory meeting presented by Katy Clough)

On the news the other day they talked about how people are being fooled by AI generated images of the aurora.
When you've seen the real thing, they're easy to spot but I get that it can be hard to tell.
Mine are real and look out for my real-time videos, they show what I saw. 🌌
