Just another transient astronomer. Also: drummer, runner, public speaker, teacher and science advocate. Love all things #astronomy and #space. Often on the BBC!
Bit cloudier down here in Salford.

Attending remotely is an option, thanks to the organisers, which I've taken up before. But quite frankly I teach mostly online, and sometimes, just sometimes, it's nice to actually meet up with like-minded folk. It stops you feeling isolated. Stops you going mad.

So, I could go, cover the cost, and subsidise my own work. Or I could not go, not present my work, not connect with colleagues. Or I could take a day off and go anyway - but remove my affiliation from my contribution.

I'm well aware that this is a first-world problem. But it seems ridiculous.

#DidYouKnow the comet is travelling so fast that it could travel between the Earth and the Sun (a distance of 150 million kilometres) in just one month? Or go from the Earth to the Moon in less than two hours? For context, it will take the Artemis II crew a few days to cover that distance!
