Dragon foamers: horses are so boring dragons have more personality

The dragons: I love strangling you in your sleep and farting ashes EVERYWHERE and eating everything in sight only to sleep 60% of the time. I would eat a small child if it fit in my mouth.

The general public thinks they’re just edgy horses while not understanding how dangerous even horses are, let alone an alien, archaic evil like this. People like the idea of riding dragons but not how filthy obnoxious and flammable and counterintuitive they are

Hearing actual workers describe a replica Thomas as very close to the original character ft. burning everyone that drove it is so telling

And they only get meaner, nobody hates steam engines like people who work on them. Nobody else can wrap their head around how they suck in such ridiculous ways

At least 30 year boomers are in demand since actively wanting to work in-person for unglamorous legacy manufacturers and utilities is way less common

A lot of stuff about rail is conceptually simple but counterintuitive and lost on a lot of people. Passenger rail and electrification has been called a boondoggle so long in the US that making it look as achievable and affordable as possible is a huge deal.

The inverse of “waving away the limits of electricity by making it magic” is “endless theological arguments about hats and their ability to draw in magic juice based on regional variations on pantograph and overhead wire designs”

Battery trains are just culturally electric, diesel-electric is a heretical offshoot, 25 Hz trains are the notoriously weird visually distinct conservative faction, which is too fitting with their location in the US. NYC is just “2 electric trains, 3 voltages” jokes.

This perfectly explains why I had no problem letting HP go, but remain more attached to problematic media about gijinkas of real-life things. The convoluted, alien historical context upending canon makes great bad-faith fanfiction.

Anything related to old American electric trains is niche and hard to find I’d genuinely be delighted to have this kind of thing

Alternatively, grilling lazy cliche fictional steam engines on 1472 day inspections is a versatile option.

Joke death threats towards equipment is normal and even appreciated because foamers have done worse. People do unhinged things to trains irl.

I have never been a big Disney person but damn Fantasyland here does not disappoint. Pulled out alll the stops with fairytale European aesthetics, the all-armored horse carousel is a fave.

I can’t not think of The Caretaker when I hear slow old jazz now.

Oh all of it is problematic on a human level but at least public transport and amusement parks have shed most of their racist baggage vs fossil fuels and industry which are just as bad if not worse than ever in many ways. The ugly side of that era is also important to learn about too though.
