Apple has innovated again: They've invented the Downdate.
Seriously though. This is rather ridiculous. Things are not improving beyond mild performance increases?
Does anyone at Apple "dogfood" these updates on old devices? Let alone daily them for, say, a week?
Just a week. That should be more than enough to realize how much has gone wrong.
Take an iPhone 13 Mini with 85% battery life, and an iPad Air 4th Generation with much the same.
Try using them for a week. I mean, really using them. Daily. For everything.
Hell, to do it on easy mode, use the Full Screen multitasking option on iPad for the first few days, to rule out any instability from the half baked windowed multitasking.
Though, use the Windowed Multitasking too. Not for performance of apps themselves, but to realize how unpleasant and jank it is to use without a mouse. And with one.
macOS on an iPad would be an improvement over that. Stage Manager & Split Screen multitasking were good. Do not fix what is not broken.

Still wouldn't fix UI elements under the stoplights though.
I am burnt out and fed up. I went all in on Apple's ecosystem for the performance, support, and consistency they are known for.
This is none of that. At all.
I am down a HomePod. My devices perform poorly without borderline disabling Liquid Glass in half the apps […] And features I have relied on over the years have all been stripped away.
Oh yeah. My iPad is holding on to a mystery 15GB of unknown data that refuses to clear. […]
