Little blast from the past today! Ten years ago I was advertising a lecture on gravitational waves (as the Astrosoc president at Glasgow uni), not knowing they had been detected by @ligo.org already. The abstract reads very differently now!

There are others but Douglas Adams comes to mind, since this copy of H2G2 has been travelling with me every time I moved or went somewhere new for a long time and was scared or anxious, as a reminder to not take life so seriously (and to not panic)

Reposting this as a couple of milestones have quietly gone by without me paying too much attention.
The first one of course being 8 (!) years since GW170817. The first event I found out about after joining the LSC, still my favourite, even though I had to rewrite much of my MSc thesis over it.

It was great to be able to share some of the work we've been doing on site evaluation for Cosmic Explorer at GR24/Amaldi 16 today! And how strange and wonderful to be giving a talk back in the city that was my home for such a very long time.
