"A sober understanding of where the rot truly lies should motivate us to not just whack at the latest weed, but yank it from the roots."
Online sports betting might be killing your marriage, GPA and 401k. But is a clear social contagion killing sports, in any sense?

I wrote about the wave of betting scandals with insights from the 1919 Black Sox, the end-times Oakland A’s, and endlessly refreshing my Tankathon tab.
Tanking Is Hurting Pro Sports More Than Gambling Ever Could
Gambling isn’t killing pro sports, our guest columnist writes. The multiplying scandals are just part of a much deeper problem.

I give thanks to those who protect the most vulnerable of our communities, and wish all those who empowered this regime to choke tonight.

It is Brazilian Thanksgiving today. May an American Thanksgiving come soon.
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

I remember when the White Sox couldn't develop Semien's glove and Ron Washington quickly fixed that after the trade to Oakland. Now Stearns trades for him because of his defense.

The horror...the horror...
Here's a quick look at the ZiPS x @fangraphs.com Depth Chart for the next ZiPS team, the Chicago White Sox.

We have a journalistic consensus about the goddamned fascist traitors' invasion of Chicago.
If you grew up in this area, this list of names will quite clearly resonate with you. If you didn't, picture every important news person from your hometown coming together to speak up.

I was just talking at dinner last night about how much I weirdly share with the Pope (despite my being Jewish).

Then I see this. If I ever get an audience at the Vatican, I will ask him "did you get me my cheez wiz, boy?"
What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?

It's the Pope in 1982.
