Related languages diverge in their conceptualisation of landscape. Although sharing sensory associations, their emotion associations vary. English speakers sure seem to like anthropogenic features compared to French or German speakers! doi.org/10.1080/0142...

Strikingly, we also find smell and taste are RARELY coexpressed in perception verbs contrary to previous suggestions. We suggest this can be explained by their potential for confusability in context.

We find, contrary to claims in the literature, that vision verbs are LEAST likely to extend their meaning to other sensory modalities. This is straightforwardly predicted by theories of communicative need.
