‘Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you –
Ye are many – they are few.’

--Percy Bysshe Shelley

To the world:
We are fighting back. Our movement has been silenced by the media here—but we are not backing down. This is what our streets looked like across multiple cities. Tomorrow, there will be more of us! Raise a glass to freedom.

—With love,
Your American allies.

Who rules
this mortal stage
and the ceaseless chase of days-
the strive and struggle,
the fools' fracas and fray?

Who's fooling who?
Over the castigated and cowed
the mob rules.

Equality isn't exclusive or exclusionary but shared universally.
Through the Ages, countless poets decried its degradation
bards in many nations now sing its hard won celebration

I saw in an article that @booker.senate.gov had included poetry in his speech, and I'm wondering what he'd quoted, since I think I may have fallen asleep <_< Was it from constituents, or other sources?

The animosity of proud discord and uproar
these Great States are hardly united any more
Opinions we blindly hold to be self-evident truths
In slurs we trust, for which we'll give an eyetooth
To stand divided, disdaining anything in common
Disgraced for selfish fallacies we'll unite fallen

"This reform must not be the work of immature assertions of that liberty, which, as affairs now stand, no one can claim without attaining over others an undue, invidious superiority, benefiting in consequence self instead of society.”

It's the twilight of what wise men scry
the doom that the fooled blind try to deny
While some reckoners not struck dumb
see the harbingers of dark days to come
Spectres of wisdom malignly skewed
over each new somber tomb they brood

Fearmongering makes easy prey of blind minds
Disdaining reason for what that they have
ordained
Righteous tenets they claim, now profaned
For those that are most strident about being
pious
Their rancor professes their ill disguised bias

to X, pt. 3
The inanity of shallow minds in hollow shells
who measure their worth by their overblown egos
but piously judge others by their Mortal shells
since to them, principles just seem to be placebos
and others, scapegoats to send to some imagined Hell

To X, pt. 2:

Yes, we all know about those hates of yours
so let them be your proud crown of thorns
slivers to ensure that you will shiver forlorn
at least you'll have them to keep you warm

to X:

I have become mired in a ridiculous morass
of a sea of confusion so boldly crass
I've lost the beacon call of the decent folks
drowned out in the bluster of the dumbass-
fools floundering with their indecent yokes
lulling all stupid with their Ego's swamp gas

August are my people, nobler more so
Than charlatans twisting sacred creeds
My fellow Humans judged, kept down so low
And saintly or sinful may be their deeds
Hallowed is their struggle to live sanely
Striving for equality, to be treated humanely

What can one say on this nefarious day
but to curse the reality and pray
for the fates of these high stakes
for the Nation, for all of our sakes
Because what can any of the Wise say
Against all the voices feeding the fray
of the discord of the one-eyed kingdom
that deafens too many to Common wisdom

Pharisees, heed thy sacred creeds
First tend to thine own ignoble deeds
Be rid of the beam blinding thy pious sight
Or you will never see thy Heaven's holy light

A TOAST TO THE ROAST

"Yay!" they say I'm "woke"
and most definitely "outspoke"
It has certainly become a joke
these biting flames we stoke
and all the chagrin of folk
now most rudely "awoked"
sore asses acutely provoked
by the stinging lick of ire
from the strife's fire

One must be a glutton for punishment to want to be President
Have pity for the fool who believes that it is noble intent-
It's doomed to early retirement by approval ratings lament
