Been pretty quiet on here lately for lots of reasons but mostly b/c I was trying to disconnect during sabbatical.

Since I am on sabbatical this term, I have been trying to work as little as possible on Fridays to give myself three day weekends most weeks. Today I used some of my free time to bake a “confetti cake” covered in multicolored stars! 💫

I am a recreation ecologist at Oregon State! I study outdoor recreation in protected areas and help managers figures out how to balance recreation use with conservation goals. I also teach classes on outdoor recreation management and planning. When not science-ing, I love knitting.

Today was my first official day of my academic sabbatical. Really looking forward to some focused time for reading, writing, and - of course - some knitting. 😊 Today I took a midday knitting and reading break outside in my garden where our roses are having a second bloom.

Tried to travel from Portland, OR to Portland, ME today (3 flights). Instead I took 1 flight, spent 8 hours in the SLC airport, and am now about to board a red-eye to Newark and will arrive in Portland, ME tomorrow at 11am. At least there were some good views on that 1 flight. 😆

There was also a farm cat, which decided to nap in this truck - where maybe it could get away from all the people. 😸

I carried my book for the @osuteaching book group up the Mist Trail in Yosemite National Park. That way I could read while I ate lunch at the footbridge. 😊 Here for work, so figured I’d have a “working lunch” as well.
