“I vote Republican because the government spends too much” is something racists say so they can sleep at night.

This quote from AOC perfectly encapsulates my view in one short paragraph. She gets the problem we (as a party) face. No “our friends across the aisle” bullshit. No “the fever will break once Trump is gone” nonsense.

The American electorate never really learned lessons from the George W. Bush “I’m the decider” Unitary Executive concept pushed onto it by the Republican Party that led directly to the catastrophe that was the Iraq War.

By not doing so, the way was paved for Trump.

The Bills choosing to honor “replacement theory” Charlie Kirk with a moment of silence 3 years after the Tops Market massacre is a disgusting reminder of how far we have fallen as a nation.

In regards to this assertion, I’m reminded of a line from the late, great Eric Boehlert:

“also, unicorns”

I’m a *super* liberal New Deal social safety net Democrat and not even one single time in my life have I ever contemplated Meghan McCain dying. In fact the only time I even remember she exists at all is when she posts something unbelievably stupid like this.

The answer depends upon what is meant by “our own Stephen Miller”. If it means a loud and proud advocate for democracy the way Miller loudly and proudly advocates for fascism, then yes. If he means our own sniveling, evil little shit-weasel, then no.

It’s good to know that as Project 2025 is turning the country into a Republican christofascist police state, the circus clown nominally in charge is unpopular.

Republicans/conservatives supposed concern about the national debt is one of the biggest political myths of the modern era - only equal to “Republicans are better than Democrats on jobs/economy”.

It’s a triumph of GOP marketing.

Imagine devoting your entire life to making the United States into a christofascist police state and then die just when it’s actually happening.

I’m not sure what he’s saying here but here’s what I do know - the goal of Project 2025 is to make the United States into a one party country.

They’ve ran this same play time after time - most notably Barr’s letter sanitizing the Mueller report. And it will probably work again.

When I look back on my MSNBC cable tv news addiction (described in my 2017 stroke blog), I feel *very* silly.

Somebody gets me.

A lot of liberals are addicted to hopium.

“Strokes change people and it’s very likely made him worse”????

My god.

I agree Fetterman has been a disappointment, but this is deranged.

I did the math. The odds of being diagnosed with with both a cerebral arteriovenous malformation *and* an abdominal aortic dissection over an 8 year timespan is…drumroll please…

0.00000192% 😐

Trump desperately wants this to be another 2003 Iraq situation, but this time the people aren’t fooled. Trump will get no political advantage from this decision - possibly a negative one.
June 19, 2025 at 6:15 PM
What are the chances that I’d have both a 3 in every 100,000 persons medical condition *and* a 1 in every 100,000 persons medical condition. I’m too lazy to do the math. I can’t possibly be around much longer #AVM #AorticDissection

Still haven’t got an acceptable answer to the question who are these guys and why are they allowed to operate with impunity as immigration enforcement in our country.
June 18, 2025 at 1:54 PM
My take is that the Democratic House Leader should not be reporting the news, but instead giving his frank analysis of what it all means for the state of our country. And that’s my most charitable interpretation of this pile of manure.
June 16, 2025 at 3:26 PM
It wasn’t a “madman”. It was a radicalized Republican political assassin and terrorist.

At the Buffalo protest. Great turnout and enthusiasm.

On a personal note: I’ve been diagnosed with a Type B Aortic Dissection that showed up in a routine MRI for mild lower back pain. I’m to consult with a vascular surgeon, but none of the treatment options (TEVAR surgery, medical management) look very good long term.
June 10, 2025 at 3:42 PM
I truly believe that the Republican Party has a plan for the 2026 midterms that involves a declaration of national emergency due to “immigrant invasion”, executive branch wartime powers and martial law. They won’t just sit by and let Democrats take over the House. I genuinely hope I’m wrong.
