Simone Segouin aka Nicole Minet, is one of the most iconic French Resistance fighters, partly (or largely) to the photograph of her published in Life magazine. Far more than an iconic photo though, Simone began, typically, as a messenger and soon moved into the world of blowing up trains. Classic.

Joining the Francs-tireurs et partisans aged 17 threw her head first into WW2 where she was trained with an SMG and off on her way. Like many of the women we've covered in this project who were lucky enough to survive the war, she lived a long life, dying aged 97 in 2023. Her post war career was nursing, the urge to take care of fellow humans still strong. Sculpted by Alan Marsh, shown painted by Mystic Spirals Miniatures and available from Bad Squiddo Games.

There's a bunch of webcams on top of Hawaii's Kilauea volcano so you can watch it erupt. The latest eruption just straight up assassinated one of them. The lava fountain on the left is landing directly on top of one of the webcams.

My colleague points out here that possibly one in seven requests to our library now may be assisted by LLMs.

When those point to fictional documents, that's a huge staff time drain. There's often no quick way to check if an undigitized primary source doc exists beyond physically pulling some boxes.

Death from above! A Drop Pod and Dreadnought Drop Pod, ready for some Heresy Space Wolves to embark and drop right in amongst my Thousand Sons defensive positions in the campaign we have planned for the New Year.

EARTH There are those, including some of your own ancestors, who long for Earth, the distant home of all who live on the Eight Planets. A ship leaves every few years, loaded with people who for whatever reason wish to make the multi decade journey back to Earth, and they are always full. Some yearn to be on their ancestral planet at the sunset of their lives, to feel the warm yellow Sun instead of the cold blue and white of the Sirius twins. Reports say most of the Earth’s surface is now habitable! But even if they can’t get prime Andes, Alps, or Himalayan beachfront, there’s plenty of habitation in the floating arcologies over the planet itself.
