This is one of my favorite poems I wrote this winter. It's a little messy but also one I was resistant to change? So glad @cerena.bsky.social and Poet Lore gave it a home in its current form. Every once in a while, I need to protect a sentimental poem.

I have a review copy of Harryette Mullen's "Regaining Unconsciousness," and I'm convinced this book is teaching me how to read for pleasure. It comes out in August!

Really glad to share the last poem I published this year. Thank you so much to Poet Lore for believing in this poem filled with strong feelings. I still marvel at the fact that I worked with someone for six years, and she never learned my name.
