This is exciting. Heavy ion collisions generate the strongest magnetic fields in the Universe in which magnetic monopoles could be produced by the dual Schwinger mechanism (see doi.org/10.1103/Phys...). There are now three experiments searching for them at the LHC: MoEDAL-MAPP, ATLAS, and ALICE.

Freedom of movement is always discussed in terms of immigration, but ending it had a much bigger effect on emigration: The number of British citizens moving abroad (to any country) fell by nearly 50%. #Brexit

It is ridiculously expensive to come and work in the UK, and it is hurting scientific research.
