A Birkin bag outperforms the S&P 500, rising in value about 14% annually since its debut in 1984. (And you can actually buy them pre-owned from retailers such as Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom, hmm)

On-device. Privacy-first. No stolen training data.
*That* is what people want from AI.

In a Linkedin post, Apple's new AI chief threw some shade at his previous employer, Google, by praising his new MS workplace as "refreshingly low ego" (which kind of inclines me to think favorably of him already).

That was posted just 4 months ago, so did Apple poach Amar Subramanya from Microsoft?

There's a David-vs-Goliath class war being waged in the US stock market and I'm not seeing Finance media (or Political media for that matter) talking about it.

They really should be, imo.

So Pulte is extremely online?? and implicated in meme stock madness?? including GameStop ($GME) which Michael Burry of “The Big Short” fame has just started posting about??

Bizarre, the way politics & finance & online culture are rapidly converging

Is this volleyball sentient? Many lonely castaways feel they're talking to a real person. Scientists say it's time to consider whether they're on to something.

(Did Michael Burry have an Apple iMac?? lol)

"We just want to help, Carol."

Whenever I hear that line in #Pluribus, it's a chilling reminder of Big Tech's tone whenever I complain about their latest intrusion, esp. w/r/t AI.

So I don't find this Google promotion for Pluribus ("What are you searching for, Carol?) at all cute or amusing.

#AI "After years of witnessing the inner workings of AI models, Pawloski decided to no longer use generative AI products personally and tells her family to steer clear of them.

“It’s an absolute no in my house,” said Pawloski"

In closing, I'll leave you with this from an email Steve Jobs sent to himself one year before his death:

"I love and admire my species, living and dead, and am totally dependent on them for my life and well being."

[I'm rooting for you #Apple. Lead the way. Do the right thing.]

As for why the savior in the 1984 commercial is a woman dressed like a Hooter's girl?? I have not a clue.

(But if artists are a wee bit clairvoyant—and I sort of believe they are—then maybe these artists and creators sensed the coming age of Epstein-meets-MeToo-meets-Big Fin/Tech AI.)

Look, Steve Jobs was a deeply flawed man, as we all know. But: he was still a *humanist*. He revered human creativity and artistry. He understood human desires and needs. And *that* was the secret to both his success and Apple's.

On the one hand, this cash delivery service would be très convenient for those in need of mattress stuffing.

But on the other, it adds to the concerns about certain companies perhaps growing desperate for liquidity.

Dystopia Version #1: Amazon and YouTube merge to form a buy-everything home shopping network that is more or less entirely ad-supported because no one will actually have the money to buy anything.

It'll be Home-Shopping-Network Porn for the unemployed, slack-jawed and covetous masses, essentially.

Assessing John Ternus, most likely new CEO of Apple as early as next year.

Berkshire Hathaway has been selling its Apple stock. But I like what I see in Ternus so far.

He joined Apple in 2001 (year Steve Jobs started reinventing Apple for 21st century), rose through ranks in *product design*

Sad b/c I liked and admired the writing of Bernstein's mother. (But I've seen the movie Heartburn and assume his father's lesser genes must've been predominant.)

Nice b/c it's a reminder of Ronan Farrow's work. Very apropos during this week of Epstein revelations.

yeah sure, b/c NYT is world-renowned for its ironic writing style
