It’s true, I’m not dead yet. I was spending all my free time practicing the Borodin string quartet 2, mvt III for a concert last night and riding my bike to get back in shape for our Ireland trip. Still getting in shape, but I can breathe a big sigh now that the concert is done.

I've been experimenting with dandelion shots. There are so many variables: sharp vs soft, detailed vs floofy or some of both, background and separation, composition. The breeze cooperated today, and I finally got some shots I liked.

For many years I’ve made a tradition of reading CC or listening to a reading (generally Jim Dale or Patrick Stewart), and I own several film versions. Tried Hugh Grant and Tom Baker last year—I’d never heard Baker do anything but Doctor Who and was pleasantly surprised.

When the woodsmen took down the tall pines, I could at last look closely at the bark of their upper trunks. It's quite different from the bark nearer to the ground; it glows in the sun, sometimes pink, sometimes apricot or purple, depending on its mood.
