I was too lazy to take a proper photo this morning and now I have regrets 😢 Behold! (I think…) The Northern Deep-brown Dart.

Might have been a decent haul for the @gardenmothscheme.bsky.social if most everyone had not flown away once the lid was lifted. Remaining were 49/31 with NFG Tiger moth and Poplar Hawk Moth #Teammoth

Though they are not uncommon I have a real grá for lesser spotted catshark and I had the special privilege to see a baby one in its egg case today at Trá an Dóilín.

A slightly better turnout today though no pearls were clutched, with 30/21 incl. a NFM Hearld, 6 knots of True Love, an EHM that’s been partying too hard and what ObsId suggests is a Mouse Moth though I think it may just be a worn something else if anyone has any ideas… #teammoth

I see your millions of moths #teammoth and I raise you….
6/5 including this unsatisfied Drinker. Others in attendance was a splendid Elephant HM, one Dark Arches, one H&D, and two flame shoulders. Beat that ☺️

#teammoth Apps have id’ this as a Purple Clay but I’m thinking it looks more like a female Barred Chestnut? Thoughts appreciated 🙏
June 21, 2025 at 11:21 AM

Another mid week dive this time to visit the Serpula reefs. Disappointed to see much rubbish but was cheered by this Leopard Spotted Goby, funky Common Prawn and a Hermit Crab sporting a fur coat of Hydractinia echinata, a hydroid which helps the crab deter predators with its stinging cells.

And lastly, #teammoth I’ve id’d this as a Barred Chestnut….

June 14, 2025 at 7:16 PM
And as surely as I take a crappy photograph of a moth but it will be a scarce one. I’m thinking Small Mottled Willow… thoughts appreciated #teammoth

Nothing like an evening dive over serene sea grass of an evening. Trá an Dóilín never fails to enchant.
