white people did this amongst themselves before computers were a thing. They made all the white women do all the calculations for them so some drunk no talent dumbass could give them ideas to figure out that he could take credit for, and that position those women held was called "computer"

I dont mean to rag on this dude specifically, but im sick of the millenial comedy thing of Tim and Eric style (faux)faux bad acting meets deadpan "the world sucks" comedy. Its so prevalent now that its circled back from clever to lazy. Related but not quite there is Basically Doing Steve Brule

If im being real, the fandom turned me off of keeping up with it for years. Also the Capaldi years were horrible. but it makes sense that Dr. Who fans love cheap schlocky CG stuff that underdelivers on its conceptual underpinnings
Forever annoys me how much of the Doctor Who fandom is head over heels for AI when there is literally a moment where the Doctor criticises "art" made by computers.

What im noticing: zoomers who grew up on hipster shit make worse hipster shit. Zoomers who grew up on shit hipsters made fun of, make a better version of this. Likewise how 90s and 00s indie is largely better than 80s stuff besides the 3 bands that coined the term

ME IN THE CRITERION CLOSET:
Eleven animated films, and two of them are only in here because they’re directed by Wes Anderson.

Eleven.

*gives a death stare until Criterion all collectively shrink into a corncob and rectify their snobbery*
Me in the Criterion Closet: No it’s fine, I mean I’m glad you have 3 John Woo movies, it’s just that there should be more. Here let me just add a few copies of the international cut of Red Cliff. Yes it’s like 5 hours. Yes you’ll thank me later.
ME IN THE CRITERION CLOSET: I guess I was just hoping you guys would have more copies of Godzilla vs. Biollante

I dont want to "well actually" points about games that I agree with, because they ARE largely a medium for children, and the point of respectability for it as a medium is tied up with an inability to make adults only Great Art. Because theres a whole canon of great games about Growing Up

Newsom seems to fail every test of protecting people's wellbeing that doesnt involve looking good against Republicans
"...Newsom has vetoed our menopause bill, not one but two years in a row. But that's OK, because he's not going to be governor forever. And with the way he's overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be our next president either."

Horses' only sin is that its broad themes don't entirely pay off its loaded imagery. Otherwise, it's an effectively uncomfortable games that turns life's mundane humiliations into surreal horror. If anything, its bans fill in its thematic gaps for it. My review. www.polygon.com/horses-banne...

1. Monette Sudler - Brighter Days For You

Cool, slick and funky. A new favorite guitarist. Post-bop, funk and an almost-but-not-quite third stream sensibility i adore

Platforms do not adequately serve art in the way institutions have and institutions for games as art are woefully underfunded. Its a travesty for the medium to be tied to also being a commercial product

Read an article last night and a guy with a MISSING LEG is being kicked off disability benefits and forced to pay back £36000 because he was filmed having fun playing cricket for the disabled league. So you aren't even allowed to be having fun while disabled.
I don't think enough people realize that for many folks on disability they cannot risk having over a VERY low cap of money/property or they will lose their benefits nearly immediately

It often prevents folks from marrying as well it's ludicrous
