What a great resource. Spread the word.
This is a great resource in precarious times.

Tried it for my city and it pulled up all the things I know about + more I didn’t. It finds food pantries, but also stuff like legal help and housing assistance.

For those of us more fortunate, great way to find volunteer and donation opportunities.

Japan's "Mundane Halloween" costume contest is back!

Each year website DailyPortalZ holds a contest where people dress up as something super duper ordinary.

Here's a thread of some of my favorites from the 2025 contest!

One of those really cool bits of news: women teaching women how to build flood-safe huts out of local materials - and making them pretty works of art, too!!

In which a straight woman highlights a bunch of known anti trans activists and claims there's a divide in the queer community.

It's pure propaganda and gaslighting.

As someone that grew up receiving SNAP at various times and also struggled as a young adult to consistently follow through on the cumbersome process of establishing benefits while working three jobs and attending college, I can attest to our broken system.

Very important thread on what’s going on in the U of California system.
The President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, PPFP, has been a jewel in the crown for faculty development and recruitment at the University of California for years and the results have been an expanded faculty with almost 100% tenure rates — unprecedented success.

This is good news, but also typical for adult gamedev: There is a policy, but you can't know what it is
Anonymous adult Steam dev asked if NSFW titles can no longer be released in Early Access, Steam rep replied evaluation is “on a case-by-case basis” during build, store review

“There is no blanket policy preventing certain games from using the Early Access model of development.”

This is incredible.

It's exactly what you think an AI game would be, a kind of Call of BattleMedal FightSoldierSiege IP grey goo that can only seemingly be an on-rails affair where you can only move forward and the only possible interaction is a QTE, and the whole thing is still melting down.
Oh my god some fucking tech dingdong posted this on Twitter with the caption "AI games are going to be amazing" totally seriously, you have to watch it. You have to. In full screen.

You gotta get over your aversion to conflict. It’s not healthy. Avoiding it is disrespectful to yourself and the people you have a problem with. And it’s part of the whole obey authority mindset that is instilled in us.

as a note, food banks need money, not canned goods
In one week, food aid is going to run out if the federal government is still shutdown. 1 in 10 Americans will not get paid they rely on in November, like SNAP. Please give to local food banks now, if you are able. Look into local groups that are providing meals and things like diapers. This is bad.
