Our parent group is full of mothers who feel judged for using formula, even though they have tried breastfeeding and it’s failed or been an extreme burden. Encouragement to breastfeed is everywhere in the new-parent pipeline.

If done society-wide, prevention of harm is mostly good. There is a debate over whether it is ethical for parent to abort Down syndrome pregnancies. And then there is the ability for rich people to “breed” kids with this or that advantage. So it’s a complex scale of interventions.

Temporary protection on the windows was reported to be polystyrene, and the plastic safety netting was not fire rated. That was the cause of the conflagration. Moreover, fire alarms seemed to be switched off because construction workers were using the exits.

The primary problem wasn’t the bamboo itself, but rather flammable plastic netting and extremely flammable styrofoam panels used to protect windows from the construction work.
