Everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should get tested for HIV at least once. Individuals with certain risk factors should get tested more often. Learn more at CDC.gov/HIV.

The federal shutdown is over. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits have resumed, and December benefits are expected to be issued according to the normal schedule.

APS is launching an evening hot meal program to support students and families during the federal government shutdown. Starting Thu, Nov. 6, free hot dinners will be served Mon-Fri from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Wakefield, Washington-Liberty and Yorktown.

“Extra Help” is a Medicare program that helps people with limited income pay for their Part D prescription drug. For those who are eligible, it saves up to $6,200/per year.

If you have Medicare and take insulin, you may pay $35 per month for each covered insulin you take. Review your coverage options with a VICAP counselor to make sure you’re in a plan for 2026 that’s right for you.

You might’ve seen David on Columbia Pike in his vest, picking up trash. He walks 4–5 miles a day to keep Arlington clean. Local businesses and neighbors show their appreciation for his dedication and kindness, and he’s known to enjoy a coffee break at Bob & Edith’s.

Natalia remembers when she started at BGR and struggled with time management and making mistakes. With her manager's support, she was able to make progress that she's proud of. She's now the line supervisor for BGR, a role she says came after years of improvement and a willingness to help others.

Sharing his art has allowed Jack to be more comfortable socializing and relieved some anxiety about talking to people. Even though Jack has sold a few pieces of his art, he says getting paid isn't his favorite part. “I love the reactions from people, especially strangers that see [my art].”
