I'm willing to believe that, for whatever reason (personal or family experience, most likely), they put sex crimes against underage girls into a different category to all the crimes they are willing to overlook. It's not so much principles, so much as they really (quite justifiably) hate it.

I was assuming it was another guy inside a robot suit. Didn't Musk do that at some point? Once it fell over, its response convinced me it really was a robot. Not a good robot, but a robot nonetheless.
