WaPo owns the words I wrote for them, and they have the right to create derivative works, like a movie, from those words, though iirc they had to give the reporter a cut of the deal. They do no the right to use my name OR TO CONFER THE USE OF MY NAME TO A THIRD PARTY.

The security incident was 23&Me failing to structure its security system sufficiently that someone could not use a repeat password to gain access. FIDO standards were clearly not even considered. Hackers gonna hack. This should be considered neglicence on 23&Me’s behalf.

The single benefit of not being legally recognized as a staff member there while working full time, apparently.
Years ago when 23andMe was brand new they gave everyone on the WIRED staff big discounts and since the publication at the time was tech evangelism-only it never occurred to anyone that paying to give away our genomes would haunt us for the rest of our lives and I will regret it forever.
