I was SHOCKED when I was publishing my first article and realized I had to pay for the photos I used, even ones I took myself! No one warned me. (I was an undergraduate, and thankfully a departmental grant helped cover it).

I suppose it's not that surprising, because Cooper was being coached Yannick Nézét-Séguin, who I heard conducting an absolutely fantastic Resurrection live with the Met Opera in 2021.
