The U.S and China both recently released AI action plans. Between their trade tensions and the U.S push for deregulation, there's a lot to unpack here.

I've unpacked the details of the two action plans & the U.S - China tensions in this @justsecurity.org article 👇🏼

Remember: you "not living up to the expectations" of people & institutions who abuse & gaslight is the GOOD news.

We wanna live our life in such a way that those people & institutions are profoundly "disappointed" in us, every day. That means we're doing it RIGHT.

Apparently Delta is now using AI to figure out how much we’re each willing to pay for tickets, so that they can charge each of us, individually, as much as possible. The supposed “benefits” of AI really depend on who you are.

fortune.com/2025/07/16/d...
Delta moves toward eliminating set prices in favor of AI that determines how much you personally will pay for a ticket
The airline touted a partnership with an AI-enabled revenue system as a step on the road to fully personalized ticket pricing, part of its goal to raise profit margins long-term.

I use the click-to-cancel FTC rule all the time to explain why the war on the admin state matters. The whole "shadowy deep state bureaucrats!!!!!" characterization really loses momentum once you flesh out what the shadowy deep state bureaucrats do
I feel like there's a comms opportunity here about the role of government that I doubt anyone will seize on 🤷🏽‍♂️ it's small, but this feels like an obvious rule that would have been popular and messaging on it would add to the narrative about unchecked corporations/profit vs. people

Some pro-AI folks need to make some choices because the spaghetti they're throwing at walls is getting pretty tangled:

- is it just a tool or is it going to transform everything?
- does it empower us or is it already here and we have to get used to it?
- does it save time or enable us to do more?

No, to be honest, I don't want an AI summary of the article I'm reading. That misses the point in such a profound way. Neither reading nor writing should be about the 'product"! Also I'm sick of literally every computer based tool that I use adding AI.

We're told that the reason we need to put up with all of the awful harms of AI is because, at some point, AI will be so powerful it will solve all of our problems, from poverty to climate change to our health. It will make our jobs easier and/or it will ultimately help us lead the job-free lives.
