To destroy is easier than to create, and that is why so many people are ready to demonstrate against what they reject. But what would they say if one asked them what they wanted instead?

During the 1950s researchers at The Wiener Holocaust Library gathered over 1,000 accounts from eyewitnesses to Nazi persecution and genocide

They include eyewitness accounts of the liberation of the camps, including Auschwitz-Birkenau which was liberated by the Russian Army on this day in 1945

Ella and Otto Neumann were married in Prague on May 23rd 1917.

For my grandparents and for so many others the liberation of Auschwitz 80 years ago today, on January 27 1945, came too late. A happy family, like many.
Today, and everyday, I remember how my beautiful Czech family lived. #weremember

We expect that some 50 Auschwitz Survivors will come to the Memorial for the 80th anniversary of the liberation.

The eyes and ears of the world should rest upon them.

We must safeguard their voices from silence, distortion, or being overshadowed.
