🍄Have you ever seen truffle-like #Russulales?
Some Russula skip the classic mushroom shape (stipe, open cap and gills). Instead, they form enclosed, truffle-like fruitbodies! Join the new #FunDive campaign and help us map them and sequence their genomes fun-dive.eu/en/get-invol... @biodiversa.eu

How do tropical #trees deal with droughts? The answer is published today in @science.org

Our pantropical #treering analysis revealed 2.5% growth reduction during #drought years. Yet, growth declined by >10% in 1/4 of 500 study sites, and in hotter & drier regions.

Pantropical tree rings show small effects of drought on stem growth
Increasing drought pressure under anthropogenic climate change may jeopardize the potential of tropical forests to capture carbon in woody biomass and act as a long-term carbon dioxide sink. To evalua...

Excited to share our new @nature.com paper mapping global mycorrhizal richness and rarity, led by Michael Van Nuland. Over 90% of richness hotspots lie outside protected areas: a critical gap in conservation. Proud to contribute as part of the @spun.earth consortium! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Global hotspots of mycorrhizal fungal richness are poorly protected - Nature
Machine-learning algorithms trained on 25,000 geolocated soil samples are used to create high-resolution global maps of mycorrhizal fungi, revealing that less than 10% of their biodiversity hotspots a...
