I think it's also quite the stretch to call her reporting "relatively factual". She spreads outright misinformation about trans people.

Like you say, that resonates with centrist/conservative elite moral panics! And the right has a lot of funding for anti-left moral panics :/

I also sometimes use it online for myself when trying to convey "I'm bi but primarily date women/nonbinary people", because the same contingent of people will hear me say bi and assume I pass for a straight woman and can "escape" homophobia by dating men, which I don't and can't

I see it mostly as a response to biphobia, where some groups of either young lesbians or terfs will yell at bi women or nonbinary lesbians for using the term lesbian

In real life I see lesbian, dyke, sapphic, and queer all used pretty frequently

also: take WHICH disagreements seriously? like, i can disagree with someone who believes the tax rate for the wealthy should be lower than what i would like. i will not enter into a "debate" with someone who believes Black women are inferior or that LGTBQ people should be stoned.
