The conference brought together researchers to discuss and present the latest research on countering extremism, how authoritarian societies label minorities as extremists, far-right extremism, information warfare, and academic freedom.

It was organised by ARENAS Work Package 6 leader, Katalin Miklóssy (@helsinki.fi) and featured presentations from several members of the ARENAS Consortium, including Louise Burté (@cnrs.fr -CREM - University of Lorraine), Gwenaëlle Bauvois (@helsinki.fi), and Ana Yara Postigo Fuentes (@hhu.de).

Developed in collaboration with researchers Sergi Soler and Nathalie Paris, and students from @uab.cat’s Contemporary History, Politics and Economics department, it examines themes of #nation, #gender and #science, and warns of the threats these narratives pose to democratic coexistence.

This is the focus of the #ARENASproject. We are examining the extremist narratives that affect political and social life in Europe in order to propose solutions for countering those narratives to help develop more inclusive and respectful European societies and ensure democratic security.
