Seeing an eclipse was one of the most profound experiences of my life.

Shame on NY leadership for mandating a 3hr prison lockdown on Monday, even after they ordered eclipse glasses for every inmate.

Cette image est dingue 🤯.
La zone noire sur l’image de gauche est un lac de lave sur la lune Io de Jupiter.
A droite, la même zone a été photographiée à une géométrie d’observation différente. Le lac apparaît plus clair car on voit l’éclat du soleil qui s’y reflète !

I am glad to see my former boss in La Silla Observatory taking care of a serious investigation on that subject. Unfortunately, their conclusions are not good for astronomy and all night sky science. 😭 #spectroscopy #darksky
