There have been a *lot* more western kaiju movies released since Pacific Rim, but nothing has quite matched the horror of Mako’s flashback, it’s just so great

Cherno Alpha is absolutely my Glup Shitto. Quite possibly my favourite design (Jaegers and pilots) in any movie ever, just the idea of it is so awesome

It helps that the conn-pods are all physical sets built to drop and shake, and according to behind the scenes stuff all the actors had a HORRIBLE time. It’s CRITICAL for selling this really silly idea

There is a fascinating assumption here - that I don’t think the Discourse has picked up on - that the point of home cooking is to *replicate specific* fast food items. No shit you won’t be able to replicate a chipotle burrito! You can definitely make something BETTER

One of the funny things about the original book is that the narrator is EVEN MORE sassy and arch than Gonzo’s version. If anything he cherry-picks Dickens’ most po-faced & professorial lines!
