there’s a thing here about for the last decade or so, online people have been very negative about small talk - the weather, or local news, or whatever - and small talk is the grease that keeps physical interactions going, and i am tired of ceding that to shut-ins
i say thank you to the bus driver when i get on and yell thank you when i get off every day i ride the bus, and i take two buses to and from work, being nice and friendly costs you nothing and should be your default expectation for yourself because it improves your day and everyone else’s day
Being nice to people is just fun. Asked young server at taco place how her day was going (fine but tired) and she asked me back. I said I managed to finish my to-do list and she unexpectedly gave me a high five! Treating people like people is always rewarding.

Every medium has a huge discovery problem right now, and the saddest part is that we know algorithms can be created to make it easier to connect art with its audience in a hyper specific way, but no one wants to let creators do that for free.
In their defense gaming has a discovery problem of historic proportions and basically all organized games journalism has been recently defunded
