Unsolicited writing advice, no. 96: Nothing you write is ever wasted. It’s all part of your training. That’s why you should never feel bad about the work you cut, or the hours you spend on work that stays unpublished. Every part of the process makes you a stronger writer.

If anyone is in need of a freelance education writer or knows of any employment opportunities, I’d be so grateful.
Former teacher & librarian, now writer - educational content, articles, SEO, ghostwriting etc. A job I loved came to an unexpected abrupt end. Trying to move forwards. Thank you #writer

It's come to my attention that some people believe you can't buy a new book until you've read the books you already have. Let me assure you, as both a lawyer and a writer, that this idea is legally and morally WRONG and BAD. Buy more books.

Just been laid off from my role at an Ed tech company. Had better weeks. I’m a RS expert but a versatile writer, so if anyone knows of any openings, please do contact me.
Interesting, though, to witness the downgrading of humanities in the curriculum simultaneously with the downgrading of humanity

Children's books build empathy, compassion, and understanding. They can transport readers to whole new worlds and back again, all without leaving your sofa. They can comfort, they can delight.

They are magical.

Happy birthday Roddy Frame, 61 today. Yes, Postcard, Aztec Camera, boy wonder, fringed suede jacket etc. But Roddy has carried on writing and recording fabulous songs. Here’s one from 1998, when he was still a child of 34.💥

Word of the Day is one I keep posting at the end of the year, hoping its time will come.

‘Respair’, from the 16th century, is fresh hope, and a recovery from despair.

Here’s to a few drops of respair in 2025.
