Years ago I’d just mutter to myself. But I wanted him to know that it’s not OK. I wanted the kid who was curious about the bug to know it wasn’t ok. Younger kids take cues from older ones. I think our world has become cruel & careless and kindness needs a comeback. But *this* me surprised me. /🧵

One adult said, “Hi is everything alright?” I said “Sure, yeah” smiling as I figured the kid had been sufficiently chewed out. My friend didn’t realize they were together & explained what happened. The man thanked us, said he’s a good kid & he would talk him. Hopefully he doesn’t get in trouble. 5/

I bet they felt super smug after sending it, but have no idea how ridiculous and laughable they sound. The content of the message says more about them and their fears than the power they mistakenly think they’re displaying.
