I’m emotionally spent today, but would be remiss not to honor the work of MLK. His work and the work others continue to fight are more critical than ever.

Read a book on resistance, resilience, and peace today. Celebrate the work of Black people. Find some peace and focus on standing together.

Check out the list of works below. Added a few to my TBR
Monday is Martin Luther King day here in the United States. I recommend you spend it reading works of resistance, works of community building, works of progress and of moving society forward, not back!

What plans are you making for tomorrow? How are you honoring yourself or community while shutting out the negative? Some are booking a spa day, others volunteering. I think I’ll take myself to breakfast and work on my stories. My stories that may get banned one day ✌️ #booksky #authorsky

Ok, @bsky.app we need the ability to edit a post. Even if it’s just a short time window. None of us are perfect

Sorry, but merely suggesting an Oligarchy is ‘taking shape’ in America, is grossly downplaying what’s happening. We are moving toward authoritarianism fueled by the existing Oligarchy. None of us win in this scenario.

Insurance switched from UHC to BCBS in November and I’m seeing a huge difference in my out of pocket costs. Similar plans and rates, drastically different co-pays. Already saved a few hundred on just a couple of visits and prescriptions. Nice that I’m getting the benefit instead of the shareholders.

Mosseri’s latest video is telling me they are planning to build their own CapCut and charge by feature. So, destroy the competition so you can rip it off. Sounds American

We have an impending winter storm that will probably be a lot of sleet and a nothing burger. I’m ok with that. I’ve stocked up on snacks, bourbon, and I have a few good reads this weekend.

What are your weekend plans?

Woke up today thinking I had time to run before therapy, only to find out I had 45 mins to get to my appt that was across town. We are also dealing with a lot of construction traffic, so my office is blasting music trying to muffle the breaks and squeals. Getting it done on my art rival book, though

For those with a Squarespace site, have you figured out how to add Bluesky to the social links? I requested a feature update, but who knows if they’ll do it

What’s everyone reading to take their mind off things?

I’m 75% through Butcher and Blackbird. This book isn’t for everyone, but I can’t stop laughing!

I can hardly think of a better example of the moral decay in modern health care than a Goldman analyst noting that biotech cures for diseases like hepatitis are cool and all, until their success diminishes the business opportunity for pharmaceutical manufacturers.

lol… that ‘technical issue’ is resulting in comments and likes not getting counted on ‘key’ conversations.

Reading a detailed historical book on politics must be read alongside a sappy Christmas romance. It’s the only way to keep my sanity.
