In all seriousness I love 'Tonight's The Night'...with or without the French ending
November 29, 2025 at 7:31 PM
'Tonight's the Night' also known as 'Let me deflower you tonight, honey.' For some reason Rod had to change the title. #1! #AT40

The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald is the last significant Shipwreck on Lake Superior #AT40

Surprisingly, the version you hear is the first time the band ever performed it. The Drummer improvised his part when Gord pointed at him to start. They tried multiple times to better it but none did.

I agree. I didn't appreciate it at the time but it is a great song
Gordon Lightfoot The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Beautiful and sad. Greatest poem ever put to music. #AT40

Was happy to be able to catch Mr. Lightfoot in 2022. Wouldn’t be around that much longer. #AT40

'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' at #2. Check out the amount of words Gordon packs into this tale. Positively Dylanesque. How did he remember all of them when he had to perform the song every night?

Keep em coming! Didn't they have a hit with their version of 'Purple Haze?'
Was "Muskrat Love" Captain & Tennille's last hit? Because, in a just world, this should have been career-ending. #AT40

Man yall did hate that song, lol

If it's any comfort, muskrats, like many rodents, do commit infanticide.

Bee Gees 'Love So right' at #3. This song I did hate. Barry's falsetto was hitting pick levels of annoying nasal quality here, IMO #AT40

Yeah at #4. I have to admit I don't hate this song. I SHOULD but I don't. I remember them performing it and people dressed as giant rats were on stage with them. Yeah that was bad

If only....
15 years later Kiss did a little known sequel Meth. #AT40 It didn’t chart but it was popular in our neighbor’s garage.

I appreciate the dedication!
I didn’t do too much editorializing when this countdown originally aired. But clearly I did not like Hot Line or Best Disco in Town. #AT40

The movie 'Stripes' made great use of this song
Hand me down my walkin' cane
Hand me down my hat
Hurry now, and don't be late
'Cause we ain't got time to chat 🎤

Well, as many of us who were there have pointed out, they weren't even the best band in the friggin' city they were named for.... #AT40

I love that story
Favorite Steve Miller story: teenage Steve approaching a band at a show, looking for a gig. While the band was setting up on stage (or between songs,) Steve flatly told the presumed leader "I'm a better guitarist than anyone in the band - and that includes you." I believe they took him in! #AT40
