I believe, and I heard it at the doors too, that people want solutions beyond incarceration. And turning down a million dollars and suing the county ain’t it! Happy to work with councilors and the community on a real way forward!
After debates on homelessness, Burien voters swing progressive
Two years after Burien leaders criminalized homeless camping outside, voters have elected a new City Council majority that generally opposes that strategy.

I appreciate this demonstration of what Dr. @daviddark.bsky.social of Nashville calls "baseline moral seriousness" from my electeds. Thank you Governor.
The president is clearly unwell. As an American, I find it hard to believe that our president speaks in this way.

I'm sorry Congresswoman. You can't simultaneously declare your objection to sweeps while also endorsing a mayor in your own city who has aggressively swept your constituents and slow-walked any meaningful expansion of services. 🤦🏽‍♀️

During the Milošević dictatorship, Serbian activists painted a barrel with his face and cut a coin slot into it so people could pay 1 dinar to hit the dictator with an attached stick. They left it in the center of Belgrade and it got so popular that the police had to come and arrest the barrel.

Hitting children therefore incarcerating the homeless. 😭
Now Joy Hollingsworth is saying that when she was a kid and did something bad, her mom would spank her—comparing this to the "shiny pair of handcuffs" Saka just said some people needed. "I knew that that was at the end, if I did something bad, I was going to get a nice little whooping."

Washington ranks last in the country in law enforcement officers per capita. We're going to change that.

We must establish a $100 million grant program to help local law enforcement agencies hire more well-trained officers.

Total ban on existing while homeless.
The city of Burien, WA is proposing an absolute ben on homeless people sleeping anywhere in the city, including in vehicles. The lengthy whereas section argues that homeless people just need a threat of jail to go into shelters (which do not exist in Burien and are limited and inadequate elsewhere.)

Rand Paul needs to stop treating autism as a disease. Human brains are different. Worth examining why, but autism isn’t something to cure. He thinks it is and that’s not a healthy way to look at this.
Rand Paul on Trump’s autism comments: “I think autism needs to be studied. It's unknown as to what the cause is. I know a lot of parents with kids with autism. And, frankly, we don't know what causes it, but we certainly should keep looking.”
