Art doesn't need to be profitable to be made, but assuming everyone can just use their time and creative energy to make their passion projects is deliberately choosing to exist in a mental vacuum where every person alive is given equal opportunities to survive without monetizing their passions.

Disabled and marginalized artists exist and many of us don't have the ability to work a "normal" job. Commissions or niche art gigs are in fact the extent of our abilities - and the only thing bringing income.
Dropping that to work on passion projects isn't an option without financial support.
