From a Kroger Salads cook booklet, 1957. No artist credit (unfortunately, very typical at that time). This is from my own collection and I scanned and posted this booklet on my Flickr back in 2006. I'll share more in this 🧵.

I'm a summer-hater through and through but this sweet post had me jotting a little to-do list: bsky.app/profile/cogw...
To savor New England's sweet few temperate months, I created a summer checklist, writes Alysia Abbott. On her list? Wandering a yard sale, procuring the perfect farm stand tomato and riding a ferry -- any ferry! http://spr.ly/633204ZwCo

In an effort to distract, if fleetingly, from These Uncertain Times, I’m going to post here occasionally about some of my favorite pantry/fridge staples: the foods/drinks/spices I replace as soon I deplete them. Threading here still sucks so I’m going to tag them: #NoelMuStaple .

my english teacher senior year of high school was able to read the canterbury tales out loud authentically and it was absolutely mesmerizing. a 10/10 experience
you really have to take a course in Chaucer taught by someone who loves the language & can read it aloud so you hear the poetry, cadences, unique Chaucerian voice. reading Chaucer alone would be difficult & not nearly so much fun, like reading "Ulysses" with others.
