He evades it & turns a mirror to the people setting up the test.

Basically “whoever has clean hands can get this thing started.”

In other words: “which one of y’all hasn’t sinned to survive???” 9/13

Who among us hasn’t found ourselves compromising our inherited ethics when an authoritarian empire means to rewrite our identities?

That is Jesus’s response to the test.
