A little update on the Golden Croc Philo - the 2nd bud opened and the current count is seven buds on the plant - he's about 4' across now. I'm kinda blown away as it seems this is fairly rare! 🪴

Finally, this morning, the first bud opened! 😁🪴

Even the Mojito Syngonium which is now taller than me is in a self-watering pot. My only recommendation is to find some that allow you to see the amt of water in the reservoir. Otherwise, you're refilling them blindly.

Same with the carnivores and even my recently beheaded coleus. Those oblong planters in the back are self-waterers, too. Yes, the robot is also for gnat torment.

I began everything anew last fall, all with self-watering containers. These are some of the foliage plants, top and bottom. The solar powered skeleton is for gnat torture 🤣🪴

This is new to me, at least: a leaf emerging from within another, slower developing leaf. The lower, bright pink leaf seems to be taking it's sweet time about entering the world. Younger, larger leaf is squeaking his way out. Judging by the perspiration, it must be difficult.

OK, now he's just being a showoff... In the month since those pics were taken, he's sprouted another bud and you may notice, there's the beginnings of a third. Really eager to see these when they open! 🪴

Haha! It turns out that I have one, I just didn't recognize it!
You're right, the colors are amazing on them!

🎉 It's A BOY!!! 🪴

I was giving the plants their bi-weekly prostate check when I discovered this on my Philodendron Golden Crocodile. Apparently, he's a boy? They grow up so fast!

Thanks! All three are ready for repotting, I still can't decide whether to pot them together or separately.
The intense color on the new Galaxy Princess leaf is amazing. I can't wait to see it unfold.

I would be more than happy to. Here's what the whole plant looks like right now. It's about ten inches tall. In November it was very small - it only had four leaves. 🪴

It was 2°F outside when I woke up this morning, but indoors, I was greeted by this: one single Jasmine blossom that scented the whole living room - it made my day. Shoutout to the inventor of grow lights! 🪴

These three have been housemates long enough that they're now producing new leaves together. 🤣

LtoR: Philodendron White, Galaxy Pink and Black Cherry Princesses.

I guess a lot of people cut these tiny blooms off of their Marantas because they drain the plant. This guy has been putting out blooms since the snow started blowing up here - I think they're awesome. 🪴

The other two are finally looking good enough for their pics 🪴 L to R: Drosera Capensis, Spatulata and Binata. The Binata leaf looks like it's about to punch the gnats out of the air. The Spatulata looked gray washed out when I got it - now it's about to bloom!

Death to fungus gnats!
I have three Sundews (Drosera capensis) in my collection and each one of them has been worth it's weight in gold.🪴This guy is only 3 months old, but he's been drawing gnats in from everywhere. I think it looks like an inside-out Venus Fly Trap.
