"That's the 2nd biggest Goa'uld I've ever seen!" - from the little-known "Get Smart/Stargate" crossover episode.

Seriously, that is an amazing fossil.
Day 28 of #Croctober, we're racing towards the finish line
This is one of my favourite images of Dakosaurus for two reasons
Reason 1: it nicely shows just how enormous this animal got
Reason 2: it also shows how stupidly tiny its arms were

My first thought was a samovar, but then no; it's Pete's Dragon running hurdles.
It's flared at the base

Sounds like a proposed scene in a 3rd season of Pushing Daisies.
I'm trying to picture a fight between angry clowns and firefighters.., at a brothel.

More of a phrase: "President Nixon's Wage and Price Control".
There used to be a word for folks who would break the price mechanism and then appoint a committee to coordinate economic activity, instead.
(CBS News) - Trump administration officials, anticipating supply chain strains due to steep tariffs on Chinese goods, have discussed forming a working group to deal with the problems with urgency if there's no breakthrough with Beijing, multiple sources told CBS News

I don’t think his confirmation is inevitable but it’s not just about RFK because he represents a lot of people - MAHA isn’t going away if he’s rejected. If maximizing vaccine uptake is the ultimate goal (as it should be), is the best strategy to browbeat or build bridges? bsky.app/profile/dave...
And why are we starting with the assumption of his confirmation being inevitable?

Twitter is for people who read every Atlantic and Slate "here's how to argue with your relatives at Thanksgiving" piece.

Bluesky is for people who realize that you don't have to spend Thanksgiving with relatives who you hate/hate you.
Like many Twitter exiles to Bluesky, @mikemakowsky.bsky.social feels there’s something lacking. He voices my thoughts better than I could: https://buff.ly/3BQbqBX

I saw it in a theater and you could have heard a pin drop the entire length of the film. Outstanding experience

It's a classic in pseudoscience, and in my experience all RW uses the tactics of pseudoscience.

when you think about it in this context, it matters a lot that the NYT gets hyperfixated on political minutiae, they ran *hundreds* of front page stories about biden’s age and dem party infighting while hundreds of thousands of people in texas were without power with temps in the high 90s for *days*
without quibbling with the underlying point (bluesky users are too focused on the NYT), 3% of americans is around 10M people and i will guess that they are much more likely voters than rogan’s audience, which means their political coverage matters *a lot*
