Once again, “protect the children” drives people quite insane, and rarely actually protects any children.
The British government admits it is now monitoring VPNs use by UK residents. Regulator Ofcom has contracted with an AI-powered surveillance service to detect the number of citizens using VPNs to evade the Online Safety Act.

The UK tech minister has said a VPN ban is on the table.
Exclusive: Ofcom is monitoring VPNs following Online Safety Act. Here's how
Ignoring VPNs risks creating ineffective laws, but tracking them threatens people's privacy

Agree. I mean, I can see why they rejigged the series after Die Another Day, but turning it into a partial copy of one of the other contemporary spy action series like Bourne – in the longer term that definitely was a bad idea.
OK, I don’t like seeing Seasonal trees (or decorations or other signifiers) so early in the year, but I’ll give it points for looking like something from early 3D polygonal games. Maybe the decorations are crude texture maps?
On this Remembrance Sunday, let us again remember the fallen cover of issue 32 of Amiga Power.
(Slight tangent, I remember Treats ice cream being as common as Walls or Lyons Maid, particularly in smaller shops and newsagents. That’s another small brand which seems to have vanished.)
That brand (Panda) was absolutely ubiquitous, wasn’t it? You were more like to find it knocking around than official Coke or Pepsi outside big supermarkets and vending machines at railway stations.
I knew Walkers mostly as the brand you’d find in wholesalers, which had the standardised green/c&o and blue/s&v colours oddly reversed.

(Don’t think we ever had Tudor crisps.)
The giant, flamboyant Dalek (or possibly just a helter skelter) is back at the beach front.

Also in TVS land (Soton region) Coca Cola and Pepsi struggled to compete with Panda Cola. No, really!

At the supermarket a can of Panda Cola was 12p whereas Coca Cola was 18p. It was shit but that wasn't the point.

And they sold it for 50p down at the kiosks in Bomo!
I occasionally bore people younger than I by telling them about how Walkers wasn’t really a prominent brand round here (TVS land) until 1992, 1993ish. Golden Wonder and Smiths were the big two.

Odds on for the first sitting Labour MP to defect to Reform.
Bloody hate it when local businesses do that. Not just on social media either: Never used any shops and businesses near me which put up Leave posters, indulged in Covid denial, any of that stuff.
Telling that the Health section of that policy report advocates replacing the NHS with health insurance. Which of course would be popular when people’s insurance premium raises each year due to age risk factors increasing. 🙄

(Defund so-called think-tanks, that’s my suggestion to improve society...)
TBH, the Oliver Twins would have used genAI had it existed back in the 1980s, seeing as their deal whole was churning out cheap identikit games rather than anything of actual quality…
Remember when the Oliver Twins were creative?

Now, they are just another pair of aging "techbros" looking to shit out slop for a quick buck. Truly pathetic.
...and here's the first trailer... 😬

"So that's four large chips, haddock, battered sausage, mushy peas and curry sauce... what are the rest of you having?"
Saw Rick last Saturday! You’re in for a great time.
I got asked the inevitable “where do things go when you empty the [Windows] Recycling Bin, and how can I get them all back?” question at work today.
Thanks! Avoided any side effects so far, other than my arm is… Well, I can’t lift it very high. And it aches ridiculously.

(Better than the alternative, I guess!)
Paid for a private jab today – YOU WEREN’T EXAGGERATING WITH THE HORSE KICK COMPARISON.
Bloody glad that my multi-hour mega-appointment tomorrow is going to be remote, given this time of year.
The chilling thing to contemplate that the current incarnation of Labour could advocate exactly the same barbaric policy, and probably would if they considered it electorally effective to.
They were always going to call for mass deportations once Brexit happened. That was the whole point of the exercise for the majority of Brexit supporters. Guess it’s mask off time.
Repost with a photo of yours that would make a good album cover.
One of the thumbnails I saw had “SCAM” placed in large letters – always a clear sign of terrible YouTube content, whatever the channel or topic.
