It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory.

Even if it's made in the USA , they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs.

Big storm happening. Would love to just turn the lights out, replay the film Garden State and pretend the last 20 years never happened.

Well, things are going swimmingly, aren’t they? How’s the stock market? Is the price of eggs down yet?

I wonder how women who voted for Trump are feeling about this? For ex. initial trials for cholesterol drugs were done mostly in men, which led to yrs of ?? about whether or not they worked for women. Certain cancer work on genes more prevalent in Asian populations. So now we’ll play a guessing game.

Congrats to everyone who voted for Trump. Stay healthy.

The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH**

Egg prices are soaring again. Here’s why and what to expect
Bird flu has killed millions of hens in recent weeks, shrinking the supply of eggs and hiking up prices at grocery stores.

Shutting down medical research — not just within NIH, but everywhere that’s funded by NIH — will have long-term effects on medicine & short-term effects on state, higher education & hospital budgets. This affects all of us, not just researchers.
The assault on NIH is a test for how the national media covers the Trump admin: Trump is shutting down medical research!

That is easy to communicate. Will they treat it as a 5 alarm fire in a way that forces the government to respond, or will they downplay & caveat it?

I haven’t ordered anything from Amazon since late Oct. That stunt Bezos pulled with WAPO not being allowed to endorse a candidate really pissed me off. I cancelled Prime. And I haven’t shopped at Whole Foods. Am I making an impact on his bottom line? No. But this pettiness is highly satisfying.
