Thanks to Anastasia Kerameos and her British Film Institute library colleagues for hosting a visit from CILIP Metadata and Discovery Group yesterday.

Really inspiring to see their Application Profile for Official RDA. There was also an overview of the BFI collections and time in the Mediatheque.

Lovely sunny day sketching ferns (including the Royal fern in the foreground) at Hyde Hall.

The portfolio for the module I’m taking on Natural History Illustration is due in a few weeks’ time. All about ferns 💚

Thanks to @sophieherx.bsky.social for a great workshop @royalacademyarts.bsky.social this evening. Erasure poetry FTW.

Storming into Wednesday like a tiny highwayman character jug with the crosiers of two different ferns (polystichum setiferum (left) and polystichum munitum (right) if you want the specifics).

Had a marvellous time in Leeds with colleagues at the National Acquisitions Group Forum, but am equally happy to be working from home this week, especially with the Beginning Cataloguing Garden in bloom.

Hope the weather is being kind to you wherever you are.

Made it along to the Hiroshige exhibition at the British Museum. Stunning artwork. We will be back before it closes in September.

Heading home after a restorative day in Norwich, with a brilliant @writerscentre.bsky.social event this evening on nuns in fiction 🧡

Today (8 May) is Julian’s day - the day she was said to have experienced her revelations of divine love in 1373.

We know very few biographical facts about her - even the name by which we know her is derived from the church in which she had her anchor hold, St Julian’s on Rouen Road, Norwich.

There’s a little secret copse nearby that’s just frothing with bluebells at the moment. I keep expecting to see flower fairies any moment, come to pick new hats.

One month until the National Acquisitions Group Forum and Seminar.

The NAG events are taking place at the Marriott but there’s always time for owl-spotting in Leeds.

Looking forward to catching up with colleagues from across the UK and beyond.

Yesterday I made my first ever botanical drawing. It’s the crozier of a tree Fern, based on a reference photo the class tutor sent us. I can see I have a lot to learn and improve but this time last year I hadn’t picked up a pencil to draw anything since I was 12, so this small sketch brought me joy.

An absolutely stunning start to the week, in Greenwich Park.

I still feel at home there, even though I was only there for my first two years in London.
