The fact doomers have gone from "America is over" to "Dems won't hold anyone responsible when this is over" can actually be read as an optimistic signal imo.

republicans are going to have three more years to re-learn that trump's political capital can only be spent at the trump company store and that having him back you while he's in office can be worse than having him yell at you

I gotta say the part of all this that made me question Trump's mental health the most was actually his super chill meeting with Mamdani. He's a lot more all over the place a lot more often and in ways he hasn't been before.

if trump dies of natural causes (do not fedpost in my mentions) before he finishes his term and issues blanket pardons, there's going to be very intense pressure from every direction on vance to cover their asses, but vance could probably get himself impeached for trying
Also, this is Stephen Miller's project and while I know JD Vance is on board with the racism he's the only scheming vizier who stands to have pardon power if Trump keels over on the toilet so you're betting a lot on one horse of the subsequent power struggle.

Manifesting Groyper Cleveland out of sheer incompetence.
If Republican vote share in midterms and specials continues to be so closely tied to Trumps approval numbers, this puts them in contention for "worst midterm in American history". If Trump sinks to 31% it practically guarantees it. The current record holder is, of course, Grover Cleveland, at 37.7%.

Approve 36% (-5)

one of the disqualifying things about this is that hegseth writes this garbage as if he’s the first person in history to have ever considered these issues
“Should we follow the Geneva Conventions?” Pete Hegseth asked in 2024.

It’s almost as if there were signs!

I’m beginning to think that the real crime these boats in the Caribbean committed was not buying enough TrumpCoin.
Trump offered a full pardon today to the former president of Honduras, who was convicted of trafficking 400 tons of drugs into the United States.

People are getting mad here, but most journalists actually like RFK because they agree with his positions on eugenics and covid lockdowns, and will never forgive Biden for ending the Afghan war. Not explicitly a sex thing most of the time.
I assume journalists do this stuff all the time. Maybe more on the editorial side, but as a non-journalist, I don’t particularly care what part of the organization is tasked to do the consent-manufacturing. This assumption is based on my observations of journalism in the run up to the Iraq War.

Even without the surveillance, a smart ring is a bad idea. I was interested in getting one for sleep tracking until I read about what happens if the battery expands. It gets tighter and tighter on your finger and you can’t cut the ring off because it will literally explode.

I do strongly suspect that the pattern of hit jobs, and capitulations, is almost entirely explained by activists on university boards who want to collaborate with Trump against their own researchers and students.
BREAKING: Northwestern University has agreed to pay the U.S. Treasury $75 million, over the course of three years as part of an agreement with the federal government to restore funding and end investigations into the university

You're not seeing the defense and international conflict experts disagreeing because if the facts are true, it's one of the most basic things in the law of armed conflict: You cannot kill people who are "hors de combat," taken out of the game by injury or attack. This is Geneva 101 stuff.
I follower a few defense experts.

Seeing them all straight-up declare this a war crime without any him-and-hawing is uhm

Disconcerting.

Pete Hegseth must resign, as does Stephen Miller. Donald Trump should be subpoenaed before Congress to answer for HIS policy.

Yes, well, this isn't 1890 and the United States wasn't the pillar of the international order then that it is now.
"Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" reports on countless incidents of illegal orders being given and followed. Treaties and laws were often meaningless. Instances where officers chose to disobey an illegal order usually didn't work out well for the officer. We're not as honorable as we pretend to be.

One of the most used "tools" in the administrations arsenal is accusing your opponent of what you are doing. This could work, maybe, if not applied to every single thing ever. Stephen Miller, pretending to be Trump, posting about the use of Autopens pretending to be Biden, is a little too meta.

I think that somewhere along the way something in Stephen Miller got fundamentally damaged. This is neither an excuse nor a mitigating factor; the dude is genuinely fucking evil and he and everything he stands for should be fought against and stopped. But he is something beyond mere sociopathy.
Since Stephen Miller is in the midst of another of his Aryans-only trantrums, we should note that his family are 20th century immigrants from the shtetl of Antopol (Антопаль) then in the Hrodna gubernia of Russia. Applying his immigration rules, they would all have perished in the Holocaust.
Stephen Miller Is an Immigration Hypocrite. I Know Because I’m His Uncle.
If my nephew’s ideas on immigration had been in force a century ago, our family would have been wiped out.
