Part of me thinks Trump will comply. He needs the Supreme Court to be on his side, so he can’t afford to piss off Roberts and Barrett.

Because the Republicans control what goes to the floor. Proposing legislation that won’t go anywhere is performative.

My sister was returning a rug and we were helping her outside the UPS office. We struggled with it, dropping it a few times. It soon looked like we had something rolled up inside and all the passers-by gave us strange looks. We finally realized how it looked and doubled up laughing.

Oh, and Elon needs the teenagers to do the work. He is incapable of doing it himself.
February 4, 2025 at 12:06 AM
That’s a different question. I believe there are some federal marshals who will do that. It’s more a deterrent to the teenagers. Elon is enough of a narcissist to tough it out, but the teenagers are still teenagers.

That happens to me every time, and I’ve been reading Tolkien since 1973. I drag out the last pages of ROTK, not wanting it to end. Don’t skip the Appendices - there’s more backstory, including how Thorin first heard about Bilbo.

I love how people read The Hobbit to their children. I didn’t discover it until 9th grade when a teacher assigned it in English class.

We have a neighbor who plays the piano every afternoon. It’s lovely to sit outside on a warm day and just listen.

They are both great in their own way. When I first read LOTR, I went back and re-read The Hobbit, and I was amazed how many references to the larger story I had missed before. I had the same experience after reading The Silmarillion, and re-reading the other books. Each one enriches the other.
