Seul, today. My comics research senses (and machine translation) tell me Trump is not a superhero on these posters (third photo or Alt text for the 1st one include the MT)

A brand new (and possibly the only one in this town) games & comics store is opening abt 200 meters from my apt and I'm gonna take it as a sign from the universe that the powers that lurk intend to reshape my neighborhood so that it fits me better (next stop: queer library?)

Brussels, why?!

I'm so not made for this kind of heat and apparently, neither is this city.

This might be the first time in my conferencing history that I drink max 1 cup of coffee per day and eat ice cream for all meals xD

(Watch with outside temp at 31C, thermostat inside my room temp at 30C).

It's one of these days 🙈
Or, how to make sure you're not late for your train when your brain is no doing so hot

In the process of syncing stuff between computers I discovered a file called "Document 5." I have no memory of writing this. No idea what it refers to. When why what is even O_O

Discovering that even Notepad is AI-infected on Windows now was the last straw. Can't go full no-Win cause of job stuff but my personal laptoping will be all Mint now

(here's to hoping that Linux stays AI free)

And if your excuse is "oops, I keep forgetting:"

Go to your accessibility settings and toggle "Require alt text before posting."

Easy fix, big impact.

Less of a #LifeHack more of an #ADHDnecessity but if you're one of us (people who need visual reminders of time passing), highly recommend making custom desktop backgrounds.

Like, this is my February with exam session and beginning of classes clearly marked. Super useful!

(and also cute. very.)

I'm writing about gender stuff in ODY-C and finally sat down to two last issues and wow, the House of Atreus arc is so many shapes of wrong. And in need of a family tree that covers all kinds of... acts. My notes atm are quite something 🙈

(and covered in content warnings)

Gave up and decided that I might as well use Canva for something not work-related. So now I'm no longer searching but creating wallpapers for entire 2025 xD

If anyone needs a wallpaper that helps (a bit) with timeblindess, feel free to grab my December 😅

(can add Canva link if needed)

Show me a picture on your phone that has your energy but isn’t a selfie.

I want to have a word with myself from a week ago who started grading, used a fancy spreadsheet, color-coded a third of graded stuff, and did NOT use any legend whatsoever. WHAT DO THESE COLORS MEAN?!

Kitten's first snow!
November 21, 2024 at 11:38 AM
Just so you know how badly we need snow rn: yesterday my 8 y/o nephew made the first snowman of the season... out of oreos and cinnamon sticks.

So to sum up, this is how my TYBM was changing: from just notes, through outline (left page) and draft (right page), to outline (left page) and then couple pages of draft with stickers!
November 17, 2024 at 8:49 PM
Whenever I needed to add/redo sth, I'd use stickers to... stick notes (sometimes even full pages!). And seems like that's exactly what I needed? Chunks of text became visually smaller (and cuter) which is (still!) tricking my brain into the achievement mode.
November 17, 2024 at 8:39 PM
I realized TYBM 1.0 needs an upgrade. Not every page needed outlines/notes. And without these, writing became a bit more difficult cause it meant 2 pages of paper-work and then rewrite. And obv on paper editing is limited (or ugly). That's when it hit me: stickers and post-its!
November 17, 2024 at 8:34 PM
After years of [REDACTED], I created the Trick Your Brain Method 1.0: in the (paper) notebook, I'd make page outlines and/or concept-related notes on the left page and draft my own text (in proper sentences) on the right page (like here).

I was discussing my writing process at one of the conference lunches and the use of writing-on-paper as a way of making my adhd brain happy and ppl wanted to know more, so this thread is for academics (and writers) who struggle with big projects:

Oh and if you hate clicking links to see media, you can enable the in-Bluesky playing of a number of sites! You can find it in Settings > External Media Preferences.

(I'm playing with the app rn and just adding useful stuff here xD)
November 17, 2024 at 11:46 AM
Bluesky gives you total control over your feeds: you can select from thousands(?) of existing ones (click "Discover"), add feeds of ppl you're following, or just search for them via the search feature (select "Feed"). This level of feeds personalization is 🧑‍🍳💋👌 And AcademicSky is for academia!
November 17, 2024 at 11:38 AM
What about the Feeds (and why are they so cool)? If you're new here, there is a high chance that you only have two: A) Discover (based on your likes and follows) and B) Following (posts from ppl you're following). You can see them pinned (top) and listed (right).
November 17, 2024 at 11:19 AM
This is what blocking means around here:
November 17, 2024 at 10:53 AM
As you can see here, after you click "Subscribe," you get two options: mute and block (a little counterintuitive, I was a bit worried I'd end up following these ppl xD).
Word of advise: these lists are usually compiled by the users, so make sure they are legit (usually a simple scroll-down will do).
