1898 Battenberg. I decided to flavor the cakes vanilla and almond separately. My cake cutting has improved! After attempting to roll it out to 1 cm, I realized that this wouldn’t wrap entirely, so the marzipan is rolled to .6 cm (1/4 inch). The handling compromised integrity so wonky but tasty

This is not the worst disaster to befall the Battle of Battenbergs; oven turned off in the middle of the first battle. But they were edible. B for British Marzipan, G for German. Despite my bad cake cuts, German marzipan was a dream to work with. (July 2022 photos)
